How can you support our work?

The Roxy Theater has a long history of bringing together Hamilton through the transformative power of cinema. We’re working together to bring cinema back to the community, by the community.

Our Vision:

As a community-led non-profit organization, we are working to purchase, renovate, and open a downtown Hamilton movie theater for a new generation. The space will also serve as a location for live music and theater performances. Once opened, the theater will generate revenue to support cinema operations and educational programming.

But first, we need your support to get it off the ground.

Phase One: Lifting the Curtain

We’ve launched our first fundraising phase to purchase a permanent theater space with our eyes on the Roxy Theater. When we are successful in acquiring the Roxy or another theater space, we will need to make immediate critical repairs that will get the building operational for the intended purpose. In the meantime, we will be hosting pop-up movie screenings in other locations throughout the community, to immediately provide opportunities for cinema engagement for all ages.

Here's how you can help:

2025-2026 Fundraising Goals

Building acquisition and initial operating expenses - $125,000

• Current costs include the building purchase down payment, building inspection, architectural review and appraisal, ongoing pop-up events, marketing, and administrative costs.

Immediate renovations - $300,000

• The goal is to make the theater operational as quickly as possible and plan for future, historic restoration efforts, so we are raising funds now to save up for what we expect to be a big project. Current known costs include essential repairs, seating, projectors and equipment, and we will want to be able to get going ASAP!

Monthly Giving - $120,000

• 50 donors providing $100/month for 2 years, known as The Founder’s Club. These funds will cover costs such as the interest-only mortgage, insurance, utilities and basic operations until the theater is up and running.

Looking Ahead…

Future fundraising goals for Phase Two will depend on costs associated with renovations. We plan to use grants for historic preservation and downtown restoration to leverage fundraising from the community. Several grant applications are currently pending.
